We're so excited...and we just can't hide it!

For years, we've attended the Paris Street Market during the summer months in Littleton. Now we have some very exiting news to share!

But first, here's how the normal visit to the show would go:

• Kandy wouldn't sleep the night before, dreaming of all the wonderful finds and treasures.
• We'd wake up early on Saturday morning, get ready and be prepared to head out the door at 7:45. (The show opens at 8:00 am).
• For several years, parking was a breeze, but the last few years the show has been growing in popularity and now it's difficult to find a spot to park.
• For a couple hours we would walk up and down the aisles, in and out of the booths.  Each visit would produce something unique and perfect for one of our homes.
• We'd bring the treasure home and marvel at the fact that it was "a find" that no one else had.

The buffet was originally purchased for Brent's townhouse. Karli purchased the two chairs and white coffee table as well.

 

The fun light fixture was a market find. Karli just had to install new wiring.

This year, the timing was finally right...Now it's our turn to have a booth and share our unique finds with visitors. It's fun to see the tables turn...

We were selected by the jury (many popular shows operate this way...they don't just accept any vendor that wants to exhibit) and were granted a spot at the August show!

Now the fun begins. We're busy scouring garage and estate sales...heck, even "trash" on the side of the road. All in an effort to bring you, the people, fun pieces of furniture and decor that you can show off with pride in your homes.

Saying goodbye to an amazing man

Almost two weeks ago my grandfather passed away. He was 96! He lived a full life and blessed so many people in the years he spent on this earth. He had a love for laughter and he played a mean game of dominoes (which I was lucky enough to inherit) and cards.

He built the house he raised my father and aunt in with his bare hands.

He raised crops and cattle, leaving the earth in better shape than when he found it. He sent two children to college because he knew it was important for them. He worked until he was in his late 70's because he loved driving a tractor and being outside. He loved to travel and take the back roads and instilled that sense of exploration in my father and me as well.  

Speaking of helping people, I pray someday I can do half the good he did in his lifetime. He didn't live in a big house or wear fancy clothes or drive a luxury car. But he had money to help those in need and, boy, did he. We learned at his service about him buying tires for the youth pastor at his church. We learned that he paid for someone's knee surgery. We learned about the church auditorium and garage that he funded and then built with his talents and energy.

We honored his last wishes this past weekend and it filled my heart with joy and hope. Joy because I was blessed to call him my grandfather and know him. Hope that I can carry on his legacy in a way that pleases him.

And The Winner Is (Pottery Barn Inspired Decor)

We were thrilled to hear comments from several of you in regards to which look you preferred for the armoire in my Master Bedroom. See that post here. Some of you commented on the blog, some e-mailed us, and some even called me! I might mention, however, we did not have a clear-cut choice..........On the blog, most of you preferred Look #4. However I had an equal number of e-mails and calls in favor of Look #2 and even Look #1. No wonder I was having a hard time making up my mind. 


I did appreciate all of your feedback and I took it to heart. Since I did want a cleaner, brighter look to go with the new white bedding, I took several of the elements, changed it up a bit and came up with this look.

I hope I incorporated what you liked about each. I love the old frames, mixing the rectangles with the round balls and finials. Adding the old white ironstone pitcher and platter brought in the simple white that I love. The bare twigs in the pitcher will be replaced with something greener when Spring arrives.

Since I really loved the old ceiling tin from Look #2, I hung it in the stairwell in the entry hall.
 

And because I also love my suitcases from Look #2, I moved them to the top of the antique linen press in the downstairs den.

Most of the other "family pieces" have been put back into other areas of my home, or in the case of the framed landscape pictures, they are stored for another day.
