Today I got the most useful, life-changing accessory to add to my favorite jewelry, scarves and makeup.
What is this awe-inspiring piece?!
A hearing aid.
Yep. This girl just got a brand new, tiny little hearing aid and I'm THRILLED!!
Let me rewind things for you a little bit. (You'll understand why I'm so excited!)
On March 6th I woke up with a clogged right ear, some dizziness and I just felt "off." I went on with my day and the weekend, just getting worse...thinking I had an ear infection from allergies. I set up an appointment with my general physician on Monday morning and she said she just thought it was allergies too. No ear infection, just congestion.
Not happy with that answer, I started searching for other remedies. I tried acupuncture. I went to the chiropractor. I tried essential oils. I would think there was relief, but hours later I was back to square one. Nothing helped me hear and the dizziness got worse. I remember walking down the hall one day at work and I couldn't walk straight---I had to hold on to the wall to get to my office.
I decided it was time to visit an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist about two weeks later. Come to find out I had Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss from an unknown cause. Then started lots of tests including an MRI to rule out any sort of tumor. They also tried lots of different medications to attempt to bring my hearing back. Nothing worked.
At my last appointment the doctor told me there was nothing more she could do and I would just have to deal with the hearing loss and that hearing aids wouldn't help. That was a sad day.
Even more upsetting was the day at work when I realized I was missing things that colleagues were saying while they were sitting right next to me. And hearing in social situations or places with background noise...forget it. I shed lots of tears those days.
Not one to accept "no" for an answer, I finally got an appointment with one of Denver's premiere hearing specialists today. And I'm happy to say that I was able to get assistance from a hearing aid.
I listened to the radio for the first time in about 60 days. It was marvelous!
Be your best advocate. Trust your gut. Be well!

We're headed back to the market!!
Good news! We just received our confirmation a couple weeks ago and we're so happy to share that we'll be back at the Paris Street Market in 2015.
And as if that wasn't enough, we're doing TWO shows this year!
That's right. Two times the fun. Two times the great finds. Two times the joy.
That also means we need to get our tails in gear.
Karli's garage is full (again) with our great pieces just waiting to be given some TLC and that special touch.
We hope you'll come out to see us Saturday June 6th and September 5th.
Now, please excuse us while we go work our tails off.
Happy spring!

Kandy's Master Bedroom Finally Complete
It has been a long time coming......the final touches to our Master Bedroom. But viola... that last item has been "created," not found. My hang-up has been trying to find the perfect throw for the end of the bed. I wanted it to tie in with the wall paint color, the fabric bedskirt I had made, and the new carpet.
I gave up on finding one to buy. I ended up purchasing a twin size sheet set at WalMart. From the flat sheet I created a duvet cover by sewing the edges together lengthwise. One pillowcase came in the set, so I simply sewed up a matching one from the fitted sheet. I have enough leftover sheet to create something else later.
Here is a look at what it all looks like now:
The fabric was just perfect, a high-count sateen sheet set that is washable. I love this print:
The pillowcases go well with the lumbar pillow that Karli had given me:
I am quite happy with how it all turned out. You can view this long, drawn-out process by checking back on these posts.....
Sleeping well now,
