Touring Through Blogland

What a fun opportunity we've been given today and we're so happy to be sharing it with you. We're participating in a blog tour, highlighting a bit more about our blog and in the process you get to learn about new blogs that you'll love!

We were featured by Marie at the InteriorFrugalista last Monday. She has the same philosophy that we do..."one person's trash is another person's treasure." Check out what she did with these old discarded shutters.

So on to the tour...

What am I working on? (we'll take all of these as "we" since we're a team)
We are so very busy prepping for our very first show together as a team. We'll be a vendor at the Paris Street Market on August 2nd and couldn't be more excited. We've been taking final inventory, making price tags, cleaning up items, painting, organizing and planning our layout for the last two months. The countdown is officially on!  While this is going on, our regular lives do not stop.  We each have other projects, which never seem to end.

How does my work differ from others of it’s genre?
We never really set out to be different, just resourceful. Our individual styles do differ slightly, so we enjoy sharing sometimes different approaches to projects and results. We found we were inspiring our friends and family to do the same while finding their own style.  Very few things in our homes come from big box stores...we're all about repurposing, recreating and giving old forgotten pieces new life.  By showing some of these small fixes, easy projects, and updates, our readers may find how easy and fun it is.

Why do I write/create what I do?
Fun and necessity. The fun comes from dreaming up a look or space and hunting for just the right pieces. The necessity comes because those dreamed up looks can't be bought by walking into a store, in most cases. It requires a new coat of paint, rearranging furniture or swapping rooms in your house. It comes from the desire for cozy, comfortable, unique homes without a lot of money. It comes from being given a talent or skill and choosing to put it to work for yourself, your friends and clients.

How does your writing/creating process work?
It happens in one of a few ways.
1. You stumble upon the coolest piece of furniture or fabric or piece of clothing...then you have to find a way to use it, so you design a room around it or recreate it to match what you've currently got.
2. You have a need for "just the right thing" so you hunt and hunt for it. Having not found it, you seek to create your own.
3. You work with a client to determine their style and help them create a space that's just right for them.

Either way, we are planners and "doers." We talk through our ideas, sketch them out, try them on for size, sleep on it, re-think our plan, and then go back and stare at the piece or room until we finally pull the trigger. We find that two minds are certainly better than one.  We work and play well together, can take each other's advise, while at the same time keeping our own unique style.

Now its your turn to meet three more great bloggers! We hope you enjoy seeing more of their work by clicking through to read their posts!

Cassie from Lovely Weeds
Hi there! I'm Cassie, author of the blog Lovely Weeds and owner of the Lovely Weeds Etsy Shop. Woodworking and junking were two hobbies that had my heart, so I built a blog and a business around combining the two. I create repurposed pieces using just about anything rusted or wooden, and often build furniture from scratch. The Lovely Weeds blog is my place to share what's on my mind and in my workshop! One girl's weeds are this girl's wildflowers.

LeAnne from A New Coat
I'm a wife and mom of five great kids. I have always had a love for all things vintage/unique. Even as a child, I remember being quite enamored by antiques. I love frequenting flea markets and yard sales and finding treasures that I can make new again! It brings me great pleasure to revive a tired piece of furniture and to show others how to do the same!

Kristin from Drab2FabCreations
I'm a wife, mom of 3 and gramma of 1. I have a small creative business, Drab2Fab Creations that I started almost a year ago and I specialize in hand painting antique; vintage furniture and home decor. I sell my pieces at a booth I rent at a local antique shop and through various other on line sites.   am passionate about what I do and blogging has been a great way to connect with others who share the same passion. Come on over for a visit.

We hope you enjoyed this blog tour as much as we did. It was so wonderful to share our new friends with you!

Best,
Kandy and Karli
